Hi, I want to buy this watch, has a 2542 movement, pristine condition, love it, can afford it, but I have never seen one like it; back plate says 1968, I have searched and searched and can not find a watch even close to it, so it's either super rare or homemade. Does anyone have one, or have u seen one? Much appreciated because I really want it if rare, but not if homemade. Seller has a great reputation, so tend to believe good to go, but just in case. Thanks much.
The pictures told me that I should come from one of the most famous Italian collector.... If It is the case, I will not bet on a homemade...
Excellent. Yes, it did come from one collector, made in the 60s,, owned for 10 years by seller, but not from Italy and has a spider dial. Hairline cracks like the Rolex 16800 spider dial. Keep advice coming. The seller has an excellent reputation, so I'm likely going to go for it, but would love to hear from someone who's seen one like it or close to it. Thank you all!
Do you have any pictures of the inside of the case back? Having a date on the outside seems a bit strange when the numbering system should have been three numbers followed by a letter and then three more numbers
Movement and dial do not fit together: - on the dial there is written automatic 28.800 - movement 2542PC (automatic with date) runs at 21.600 r/h The first Zenith automatic movement with date running at 28.800 is caliber 2562PC produced starting in 1972.
The picture remind me his photographer style ( wich is the same man that did the pictures for MWO book). His website is newoldtime.it and his name is Roberto ( also known as Jatucka on vintage rolex forum and others)
Scored. You saved me. Pls call on me if I can return the favor; seller didn't have a model number which made me uncomfortable, but I'm ok w/o a SN as I know Zenith did to SN their early watches. Great work
Would u pay $2,700 for this watch or walk? I'd really like a 3634 blue dial, which this persona is supposed to have but wont show me until after "we do this first deal." Hmmmmmm. Does anyone have 3634 blue dial watch they'd sell me? My watch funds just opened up. great work and I appreciate Allllll of your time's. wT
Hello, this watch does have a 23 jewel 2562 PC movement (if I mentioned otherwise , I'm sorry); just double checked it; so now do u think ti's ok? I really want it if not homemade.
*****Correction**** This watch does have a 2642PC movement no the (2xxxxx) need to slow down, so it will run the date window and has 23 Jewels? I guess the question now is, Was this movement around in 1968?
absolutely not expert but the ref in the caseback seams to bllow to a Zenith defy 1808-68 and for me there mainy thinks that are not in line with the 60's watchstyle..
Good call, the seller said it was a part of the Defy family. Thanks. What do u think? Worth going for it? $2,700
personnal opinion, as a collector, no ... if you like it...why not... but i don't think this watch was born like this...
The tachymeter inner bezel not on a chronograph is a huge red flag that this watch was put together later. You sometimes see this on cheap fashion watches but not a Zenith.
