https://auction.catawiki.com/lotsfrom/horlogeman Has anyone ever bought from this seller or through this website? This guy looks to be selling quite a few good Vintage Omegas and I have my eye on a few.
Try this guy. I have bought several watches from him. He negotiates the listed price and, if it's a redial, he says so in the description. http://www.timelyclassics.com/portal/
Wow this guy has tons of Omegas on there. Prices seem high but if he is legit and negotiates the listed price then it could be a good idea. Thanks efauser, Hook'Em
Hook 'em. He's legit. As I said, I have bought several watches from him and never paid the price he has listed. Also, as you can see, he doesn't tart up his watches.
I have been looking in the sales forums here. There are not many options in the vintage market at the price point (~$500) I would like to spend.
Yes, I have. He's a Dutch guy (so am I) and I bought a birth year Seamaster quartz from him a couple years back. It arrived as described, maybe a little on the expensive side, and I definitely got a 'pre-owned dealer vibe' (as opposed to enthusiast/collector vibe) from him, but I have no complaints about the process or the watch. I doubted if I should say this, and I'm still not sure (as my only personal experience with him has been positive), but over on the Dutch watch boards I've seen some complaints - mostly about disputes about the described state of the watch. In my opinion, most such disputes could have been prevented by carefully examining the pictures (or requesting additional ones) - which is something you should do anyway. As to the website: catawiki is a well-established and increasingly international online auction site. It's trustworthy in terms of the process and I've bought several watches there. One important thing to keep in mind is that the auctioneers don't inspect the actual watches, just the pictures. These form the basis of their evaluations and - sometimes...interesting - estimates. This means that stuff can sometime slip through the cracks. They invariably resolve issues, however.
Of course! It's a 396.0852. Here's a link to the Omega database: https://www.omegawatches.com/planet-omega/heritage/vintage-details/14951/
I don't doubt they have some legitimate watches but to sell one of those Ukrainian POS, delegitimizes you as a reputable seller, in my eyes.
This seller has every week plenty of redial for sale on Catawiki. On my book he is a no no seller as he is never disclosing it even for watches deserve a mention in the Worst redial thread
Thanks for posting this. I just clicked through many of his listings and he has some really nice pieces. when I get ready to take the vintage leap I'll be sure to check him out (and OF of course).
