I know that people have "cooked" lumi Speedy dials to some success to get patina, but I have not seen it done to 300s. Has anyone tried it, and it is possible to bake the bezel too?
Apparently the melting point of acrylic is 320 F, and I saw that people cooked their Speedy dials at 200 F...so it probably would not melt them.
This is an interesting idea, I haven't felt the need to chase down a '60s 300 as too often the patina is uneven and not attractive to me, but if a Watchco could be successfully baked a la the @Barking mad BM LE, I might be interested in nabbing one.
No reason it wouldn't work that I can think of (says the guy who has never cooked a dial). If you can pick up a spare dial, why not experiment? (just disclose of course if ever sold)
Hi all Not sure but I thought baking dilas only applied and worked on Tritium dials and not Luminova dials? and that is what a WatchCo dial would be and even then it can be hit or miss with a lot of risk and luck involved to get the result wanted. Marc
