On March 1, 51 years ago today, the Speedmaster was selected by NASA as the official wrist watch for manned spaceflight.

At the time, NASA’s testers wrote, "Operational and environmental tests of the three selected chronographs have been completed; and, as a result of the test, Omega chronographs have been calibrated and issued to three members of the Gemini Titan III crews."

And Scott Kelly is about to land after a year in space. With an X-33 for at least a part of that time.
