Hi, I don’t participate a lot here, besides maybe WRUW. Thought I’d make up for that a bit this Holiday season, by sharing something I’ve been working on. Warning: this is for Moonwatch nuts. (Move along Mr @ulackfocus …or prepare for a dartboard gold mine) This is a “montage of mug shots”, as I call them, of Moonwatches. Specifically, these are dial-side differentiable, with cal 321/861 lineage, and in mooncases only. The first arrangement is random, which I happen to prefer. A short name for each model in each row is on the right. I hope clicking on it will let you download the image in full resolution. This arrangement is in chronological order, which you may find more interesting for reference/research purposes. A more detailed description follows for this arrangement for your reference. Please let me know of any mistakes or glaring omissions and I will make updates over time. The tough part has been getting “head-on” mug shots for some of these models. 80% of these are from Omega’s website, catalogs. books. Most others are from auctions, like Omegamania or Christies. A couple are from MWO. I hope I don’t get in trouble for that. I find these print out well on C sized paper (22 x 34 in.). Makes for nice watch box and watch accessory gift wrapping paper too! Models that are NOT included here are ones that are not dial-side differentiable from a plain Moonwatch such as the SS Apollo XI 25th or the Last Man on the Moon, for example. There are no automatics, no dates, no Holy Grail, no 50th anniversary 3201’s because they are not from of the 321/861 lineage. No Mark II’s or Mark V’s because they’re not mooncases. I did have to make decisions about what “dial-side differentiable” meant for the many vintage variances, such as Meister/ACP dials, or the 105.002. Basically I kept it simple: a representative for the 2915, 2998, 105.003, 105.012, and a “modern Moonwatch”, plus a representative for each bezel type, and one vintage racing dial. All manual moonphase models are included because they are from the 861 lineage. Edit: Oh and to avoid "domination" by the many Missions models, I only put in a sigle representative of those 22 models, the Apollo XI one. I hope this is enjoyable and maybe even a bit helpful to Speedmaster fans. Happy Holidays to everyone on this Forum! YaY! -Lou P
Good work Lou! I think this could be another potential answer to @Spacefruit 's question of what makes up a complete Speedmaster collection?
I'm gonna print and use it as gift wrap for Christmas. My Watch infatuation already drives my family crazy. So I don't mind .
Really a cool job Is there a way to get them in a better resolution? I am not complaining. Just thinking about printing it and have it framed. Cheers Thomas
Very nice Lou! You should print a limited number of poster size prints! I need something for the bar area, hint hint.
