    You ex-military @OmegaBear? I was 8 years army reserve myself (to help pay for school). 94-02. Good buddy from my time in recently passed from cancer...we had always spoke about getting Army tattoos back then and he was the only one that actually did. A few of us are going to get the same one he had in his memory here in the next few weeks. Anyway nice mural...and I was born in 76 so you even managed to fit my birth year into it!

    No sir, not myself, but I always had the utmost respect for those who serve(d) in the military.
    And I think the POW-MIA decal is a very powerful expression of love and respect for all those who sacrificed so much and a symbol all of us Americans can unite around.
    Thank you for your kind words about the mural. Our wonderful new house, here in the resurgent Fishtown neighborhood of Philadelphia, had a faded mural of the flag dated July 4, 1976. So we decided to refresh it, just in time for the 4th, with a few changes/additions of our own: honor the folks who made it all happen from even before 1776 on with the eternal POW-MIA logo, and add four relevant year dates: 1776 (birth of our country ), 1876 (birth of our house-that's when it was built), 1976 (birth of our house's original flag mural), and 2016 (birth of our new home-we literally just moved here yesterday! )

    It was probably coincidence, but last weekend I finished this superb history by the redoubtable David McCoullough; I'd been meaning to get to it for awhile. I had enjoyed his "John Adams" some years ago, which is much better known.
