Omega-Speedmaster-Silver-Snoopy-Award-310.32.42.50.02.001.021.jpg
Yesterday, Omega announced its new Speedmaster Silver Snoopy Award 50th anniversary watch (click here). The third Speedmaster with the Snoopy theme and the 4th watch commemorating the Apollo 13 mission. I am lucky enough to own the first two Speedmaster Snoopy watches (2003 and 2015) and the Apollo 13 watch from 1995. But, that’s not […]

Really nice review with some 'in the wild' pics and answers to some questions people have been asking.

Nice review. Left me wondering about the color though... Looks so much „richer“ than in the press pictures... Almost too saturated.
I hope that it looks more like the Omega pics in real life.

"The blue is interesting and looks a bit different in the flesh than it does on the press pictures we shared yesterday. It appears that the blue color can shift from a bright blue to almost black, depending on the light and angle. "

I was wondering about the thickness, its miraculous you get a mechanically animated caseback and slightly less thicker watch.

The watch looks great and tte sheen on the dial resembles the opaline silver that is used on the globemaster.

too bad the watch is out of my price range.

Looks quite a bit nicer in the live shots. Still don't like the blue-on-silver color scheme, especially the plasticky vibe of the H/M and chrono seconds hands.

I think saying this "broke the internet" yesterday is a bit too much of an exaggeration though, as it seems to have been met with as many shrugs as accolades - not a flop by a long shot, but certainly not a home run either.

First, yes, I'm jealous.

Can we get a lume in the dark shot?
Edit: never mind, answered in Fratello comments.

Thanks for the opportunity to see a hands-on review. AND thanks for keeping it secret and not spoiling the surprise! I can only imagine how difficult that must have been.

Still jealous.

All trades (watch trades lol) gave initial positive impressions of the reveal, and the watch attracted alot of interest and interaction on social media moreso than the bond watches which have been heavily promoted.

Moreso it has attracted attention of those who don't usually shop. Generally impressions seem to be positive across the board with a minority like me unhappy with the price.

There seems to be an awful lot of people butthurt by the fact this isn't a limited edition, and dozens of flippers saying it's not worth buying because of it. IMO Omega made the right call to help filter out speculators. If I'm going to pay more for a watch, I'd rather give my money to Omega, so they can develop their watches and their brand, rather than lazy flippers who buy only to resell.

agreed this puts the brakes on market abuse, everyone who wants one badly will eventually get it.

I'm sure it was front-page news for those who have been highly anticipating it, but for the rest of us who aren't interested in it other than the fact it's a Speedmaster it hasn't seemed to make much of an impression, is what I'm saying. Again: Not a flop, not a misfire; just not something that breaks the internet either.

The price tag on PP Nautilus and Aquanaut does not prevent flippers from buying and flipping. If demand is here (nobody really knows), there will be loads of flippers. I guess we’ll know in a few months time.

Great move by Omega.

It is supposed to be Boutique only.
It is priced at a level that has angered so many.
I don't want flippers getting anywhere near it or ADs.
I would like to see Omega keep any flippers or those than don't want to make an effort kept in the dark.
I would like to get one and then have Omega cease production and have them deliver the remaining items over the course of next year 2021.

Maybe you're in the wrong place visiting a public forum since all your sentences start with I, I, I, I, I.🤦

Thank you for posting your wonderful review. I've read many of your other reviews... all great and informative.
Your review almost made me reconsider, but, I said, almost.

Thanks again.

I still don't have AD confirmation but looks like it's going to be priced at 13,000 here in Canada, so approaching 15k after taxes. That's too rich for me but I'm happy to admire from afar -- and hope I find one with box and papers in the MAKE US AN OFFER! bin at a flea market one day.

I'm just glad they managed to deilver something with all those expectations building up since March or perhaps late last year.

Brilliant read, I absolutely adore this watch and the caseback animations are the icing on an already delicious cake.

I would love to own one someday and in that regard in thrilled it isn't a LE as if I ever do it will be a long way from now that's for sure.

Thanks RJB.

This watch is a homerun. It's the best looking snoopy.

There's 3 issues people have with it.

1. It's not limited - this is actually good for the masses and good for the company because there's already a snoopy out there that is a legend, serving as a halo product. Omega needed to make a snoopy that is easier to purchase. All the flippers and enthusiasts who were only into the new snoopy with expectation of the same jump in market price are now weeping. This is a distant first. If everyone wanted this to be "limited" would stop crying about it, it would be next to the mesh bracelet James Bond Seamaster as their best releases of the year.

2. Pricing - i don't really understand the hate on pricing. It's based on market forces. ALL of these watches are over-priced. literally, anything omega makes, anything rolex makes, grand seiko, patek... the only watches that aren't over priced are $20 casios, apple watches, and any other industry specific niche watch. As it has been shown many watches before, if people don't want it, dealers will give discounts on them. Omega's pricing is pretty transparent. If it flows down to the authorized dealers, you'll likely get one 25% off.

3. Looks - this is a distant distant 3rd. It's a great looking watch, panda style with every brand's best-selling tri compax design. some people don't care for snoopy, some people don't care for blue... but come on, it's absolutely better looking than the silver snoopy.
