Hands on my Cosmic

Good afternoon Omegaphiles! I am curious about the hands on my 166.135. Mine has a short set that don’t reach the markers but that looks standard. The hands are fully lumed. It looks like some models had these but others with my dial had split hands with a black line and lume in the end. Trying to determine if these are original. Any help would be great.
Thanks in advance.

I don't know a whole lot about Cosmics made past ~1970, but I believe they are not the original/correct hands. This should probably have the hands with black paint and lume. I'm sure others will chime in with more information

I looked up the case and there are two dials that are close to the one you have. From the photos of the dials, the background colours that is a bit more cream like yours, and that has a dot of lume next to the 3 o'clock marker, uses shorter hands than the other dial (which is more bright silver and does not have a lume dot at 3) does.

For the dial that matches your watch, the hands have a short black section of fill, then lume closer to the tip of each hand. The minute hand length is 9.1 mm, measured from the center of the mounting hole, out to the tip of the hand - you might be able to lay a scale on top of the crystal and check this on your watch. The longer hand set has a minute hand of 12.7 mm measured in the same way.

So I would say the lengths here are probably correct, but the hand should have black and lume fill, and not all lume. New hour/minute hands set would be parts number 065PZ1929, and new seconds hand would be 066TZ1927 (seconds hand measures 9.2 mm).

BTW replacement dials are available, but not cheap.

Cheers, Al

Much appreciate @Archer. You always come through with fantastic information. Thank you.
Stupid question but, where is the best place to find parts? I like keeping my watches as original as possible with all their patina. Does Omega still have these parts or should I be looking EBay and on forums?

Omega has the parts, but only watchmakers with parts accounts can order them. Most (including myself) will not sell parts as it violates the agreements we have with Omega, so they would be replaced as part of a service.

Other than that, you can look on forums, eBay, parts suppliers, or just google the part numbers to see what comes up.
