I am new to the forum. I have purchased this seamaster from a reputable dealer, over 70 years in the business in central london. I have been assured the dial has not been refurbished, have the movement number and it is calibre 600 model 14759 from 1962. The watch came with a two year warranty. The dial is marked slightly from age. My question. The hands are totaly plain and have no lume on. Did any Seamasters from the time come with plain hands? The wear in the hands is consistent with the wear in the dial. Perhaps they are original or at some stage the hands had been changed? Thanks Paul
I don't think there is a clear answer to your question. If you asked me if I thought the hands were made by Omega, I'd say probably. Do they belong with this watch? I really can't say. Here is another example with similar hands with a luminous insert: https://omegaforums.net/threads/my-dads-old-seamaster.4265/ I cannot find an example with the plain hands, either. That doesn't mean that they are incorrect, just that I can't find an example. As far as dial markings for luminous, this watch was produced at a time where the laws were changing world wide on this issue. The "T" for tritium started around 1963, maybe a year +/- after your watch was made. Hope this helps, gatorcpa
I may have found the answer see "Vintage Watches: Omega seamaster de vile 1963" this can be found on U Tube. Any positive feedback or suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.
Here is a watch with the same case reference as yours: Hands are "alpha" style, I saw some with "dauphine" style hands as well. Note that your style hands are not here as they were not produced prior to the late 1950's, a few years later than this picture. I don't know the exact name for that style. gatorcpa
