    Hey everyone

Going to Hamburg soon. Have been there a couple of times but mostly with a couple of army buddies where heavy drinking and terrible hangovers were involved.

Anyone have any recommendations? Nice restaurants, watch shops, great coffee... :)

You could visit the "Elbphilarmonie" !

    upload_2019-2-6_0-15-50.png

There you have a nice view and you could taste a verry good beer called "Störtebeker" inside.

Another nice spot, is the "Miniaturwunderland" just around the Corner.

    Have a nice trip

It's best seen by boat!--so take a tour of the harbour.

I'm partial to Kunstverein in Hamburg when it comes to art--the Kunsthalle is also good.

    The Kunsthalle is excellent!

I was accosted by a swarm of prostitutes once as a young man. My most vivid memory of the place:whistling:

I will definitely visit the miniature wunderland. That was the way I sold the trip to my kids :) Good idea with the harbour tour, never seen it but I hear it is quite something.

The prostitutes with probably have to wait :D

Get yourself a HVV card for all Rings and then you can travel on any bus, subway train and ferry anywhere in the Hamburg area to your hearts content. There‘s a very effective iPhone HVV app that I can recommend.
    https://www.hvv.de/en/timetables

Visit the Reeperbahn....but not Herbertstraße if you are with wife/kids.

Take a boat trip through Speicherstadt and finish at Miniature Wunderland.

Go to Landungsbrücken to see Cap San Diego, then walk through the Alte Elbtunnel (strangely cool).
    https://www.hamburg.de/alter-elbtunnel/

Visit the U-434 U-Boat (Fischmarkts) best reached via ferry.

Visit and climb to the roof of the Dockland building (it looks a bit like a huge cruise ship).
    https://www.hamburg-fotos-bilder.de/2011/10/cruise-center-altona-und-dockland.html?m=1

Go to Teufelsbrück and look across the Elbe towards the vast Airbus factory. If you get lucky you might even time it right to see an A380 passing low overhead as it enters or leaves the site.

Take the S1 train out to Blankenese, chill out and watch the huge container ships pass by.

Try the Schifferbörse restaurant near to the Hauptbahnhof.

You could also visit the Omega Boutique in Neuer Wall (say hello to Regina from me if you go there).

Hamburg is great! If you fancy spanish food and tapas pay "Restaurante Espanol Picasso" a visit, maybe call first as it's always packed. Tell them Pedro and Max recommended it to you ;). Their Jamon Iberico / Pata Negra is the best Ham I ate so far outside of Madrid.
Right around the corner is Luxuhria's new shop, quite impressive, but mainly focused around modern watches.

    Cheers,

    Max

Besides all site seeing don't forget to say Hello at the OMEGA Boutique. Nice people over there and maybe a glass of Champager for free

    :D

Thanks for the tips guys. Blankenese looks really nice. Too bad we aren't going in the summer. Schifferbörse looks like the kind of place where I could enjoy a whole lot of beer but where I will have a really hard to convincing the wife to go :( The Restaurante Espanol Picasso looks really good, I think I will suggest that to the high command. Great tapas is the best. Before I say hello from Pedro and Max you have to promise that it is not just something you say where they will be like "Okaaaay who is this weirdo" :D

If you want to go more up-market with dining try Café Paris. The official link below doesn’t really give any clues to the quality, but if you just Google Café Paris Hamburg you will see some great images.

Another option: Skyline Bar, 20 Up.

I would recommend coffee or tea at Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten pin the lounge and not the cafe. Another place is the hotel Atlantic both with views onto the Alster.

Up-market is not the way to go, when my two girls of 2 and 5 are coming along :) Currenlty most meals are quiet for 10 min, then the oldest call the youngest a baby and the youngest replies that she is not a baby. That exchange will happen again and then the screaming starts :D Up-market will have to wait until I can go alone with the wife.

Then I have just the thing for you and the kids. How about a restaurant where the food is ordered on a touchscreen and arrives via rollercoaster direct to your table?
    Check out Schwerelos, Das Achterbahnrestaurant

I showed it to my oldest and now you are the reason she is asking when we leave every 30 sec :) I promised her we would go there. Thanks very much :) I think it is kind of cool too actually :)

We went there this evening :) The girls absolutely loved it. What a great place to eat with kids. Their toys animals (a lion and a lobster) even got to ride in the rollercoaster. Thx so much for the recommendation :)

Here is a wrist shot. My 5 years old just got a Swatch so she can learn the time. She already loves the watch and looks at it all the time.
