    I actually don't think they look like Gemini capsules, the profile is very different. I read somewhere that they were modelled on the silhouette of one of the early shuttle prototypes as these were on the drawing board at the turn of the 1970s when the original Alaska II watch was designed. There was a discussion on it here a while back. I haven’t got my MWO handy which may indicate one way or the other but it seems strange to me that in 1972 Omega would hark back to a design the last flew in 1966 rather than looking in forward or use a then contemporary Apollo themed design.

    at one point when i was crazy enough i did consider swapping the subdial hands for the racing dial red hands ::stirthepot::
