So I've lurked on this thread a long time, joined some time ago and have posted here and there occasionally but without ever owning an Omega timepiece... That is, until today! I've posted before about loving the Speedy Panda but as the prices have skyrocketed above what I want to pay for daily wearable watch, I decided to initiate myself to team Omega with the one and only, legendary, mythical, (piece that Ulackfocus loves to hate)... Moonwatch! Not only was this my first Omega, it was also my first online purchase from a non-AD. Many here have experienced this new packaging, others have seen it posted online, but it is quite impressive to open in person for the first time... Includes so many extras, with the two spare straps, the loupe, the bracelet changing tool, and 4 extra springbars. For someone like me who hasn't yet changed a strap before but has increasingly wanted to, it's almost like a watch addict starter kit... Nicely wrapped and secure... I've held others, I've tried many at AD's, but something else when it's yours... The legend... Looks and feels great on the wrist... Next item on the watch bucket list, waiting for Tuesday.... Congratulations good sir! You need to post some pics when you decide to change up the bracelet for the strap and let us know how it goes your first time.
Congratulations! There's something about a Speedy Pro that you don't find in any other watch. I sold my sapphire sandwich about 6 months ago, and have been feeling the pull of a Speedy Pro again. It's the most comfortable watch I've ever worn, and I look forward to picking one up again. Enjoy it Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Are you in the closet about your secret infatuation with the Moonwatch? It's okay to come out... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Woah!! Hold on there, one "small step for man" at a time... I have to say I am more than a little nervous about a strap change. I've read multiple threads about others doing it and never appreciated just how nerve wracking it could be. I practiced removing bracelet on an old Quartz I have and must say it did NOT go as smoothly as I hoped... I'll get there eventually but it may take a little while. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Practice a bit more.. There's a few quirks but once you get the feel for it, it's a piece of cake. Don't be scared to make the watch yours! Oh, and nice watch BTW!
Congrats. Have a couple of speedy variants but still not the original. There's something special about speedy pro that just grows on you. Wear it proudly. It's definitely special.
Thank you! It's from @ulackfocus, he shortened his normal "Hey it this another Speedmaster thread? Imagine that!". Thought I'd beat him to it and 'take the wind out of his sails' as they say...
Did my first strap change after 10 days of ownership. I haven't been able to source any ideal straps yet (order placed today with Stewart Morley of Heuerville Straps - 14 plus week lead time). However, sitting in my watch case is a Tissot Visodate that just happened to have a donor I thought would suit it nicely. The deployant is labeled Tissot which may be considered in poor taste, but at least it's the same parent company...? Here's my Speedy before the swap, along with the donor... Donor strap removed and Speedy taped in preparation for surgery... New strap attached with a feeling of "much ado about nothing"... I like how it looks on the wrist... The search will continue to find an official Omega deployant with similar looking leather strap to go with it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
