Picked this up some years ago out of a box of random bits at a local gun show for $10. It was running but the crystal was scratched to a translucent mess. Replaced the crystal and it is running great! Did some research today as I opened up my Seiko box. Turns out to be a rather rare JDM model from 1969. It has a cool dial that shimmers, but not obnoxiously so, in the light. Seikos are fun.
these 'rally divers' are pretty cool, and some, as you say, are quite sought after! Nice catch, especially a proof/proof model Wear in good health!
I find the quick set date function very intuitive, just push the crown to advance for months with 31 days (or end of Feb). No need to unscrew or lift crown. Neat.
Indeed. I also love how the crown is hidden into the case, to emphasize that this is an automatic and it doesn't need winding. Seiko design language+funky period styling= great watch. And for 10 bucks? That's a steal!
Very nice and interesting watch! Thanks for sharing. For further information, here is a great article about another rallye diver from Seiko: https://www.fratellowatches.com/tbt-seiko-6106-8229-rally-diver/
