So I bought this Speedy from eBay on Monday described as 1980's:

I have a hunch it's earlier, hopefully a decade earlier, and I'm also thinking the lume is nicer than it appears in the photos.
Anyone fancy having a guess at the full reference? I should receive it tomorrow.

I think you could be lucky. I see a Stepdial, and a medal back, so probably 145.022 - 71.

    Cheers Nico

    Agree, unless it's Bigfoot (i.e. a -74 with a stepped dial) I think it's a -71. Either way, good pickup!

Oh Ash, again? The dial is nice ( of course not even close to the stellar dial on the 145.012 you sold ), case too ( ..not as stellar...etc:)) and it will turn out to be a '71 or '74. Hopefully with the matching movement!

-71 was my hunch too, I'm sure that's a step dial, but then it could just be a complete mash up.

I'm not sure there are other dials as nice as that one! Please don't ever post any pictures of it :)

Well you were all correct and I was lucky! It is indeed a 145.022-71 with very nice dial and very original. Bezel is correct and nice, crown I think is original and the crystal has the old logo. Movement is very clean looking 861 with serial 32198... so all in all a very unmolested example. Phew.

Lovely catch. Congrats  How's the polishing situation? To my eyes it looks un-polished-to-once-lightly-finished...but, I may be wrong...

I think it's probably had a light polish at some point, or its just well 'shirt polished.'

Lovely, right in at the end of the stepped dials.
