Picked up this little steel Seamaster with rose gold dial furniture and frosted textured dial last week, and a case I haven't seen much of before.

I haven't been able to work out the reference yet as the back is almost impossible to remove with my caseback wrench. So until I get to a watchmaker I wondered if anyone could make an educated guess on the case reference number?

The caseback has already got a few too many marks for me to want to add any more to it right now...:)

I want to order a crystal in the meantime. As you can see there is a rather big crack, shame as it's the original one. I'm guessing it's 5xx caliber. The coat-hanger S is a nice surprise too, as the sellers pictures were quite distorted.

Overall I'm very happy with this one, and I haven't owned this type of textured dial before. I think the markers are onyx filled too..

Yep, I'd guess a 14.70x of some type too. Should be from 1960-ish, give or take a year.

Case looks different to the 14901's i've seen, the lugs don't have the double facets and are larger.. Maybe the 2nd gen ?

I really like the watch, Alex. The rose gold is most unusual and really lifts the dial

Cool dial Alex! The rose gold is a beautiful match for the dial-nice pickup!

    Hi Alex.

Before I made a wild guess, are you sure the dial is original? ;)

    Hi Hoi,

Well, at least it wasn't an issue with the hands this time! ;)

Im pretty sure it's original, I saw a very similar one with the rounded style S sell recently for £550. And that one was questionable. It's a very good job if it is.

A close up at 7,8,9 o'clock, I'd like to have the second look at the minute markers right there.

Nice one Alex! I like the combination of the dial texture (is this a 'linen dial'?) and the rose gold. Lovely.

Not sure if still needed, but it looks closest to ref. 14746.
