I would have guessed water damage, but by no means an expert.

 

I like it. Would work well paired with a meteor shower bezel.

Looks like some sort of bleaching...
Water damage alone usually only leaves some residue which can be cleaned off. This looks like it was exposed to water before someone attempted to save it by using a culinary torch.

 

I clicked in there thinking if it was cheap enough it might be worth messing about with then saw the price. Yikes.

 

"Tropical"! Worth a healthy premium!

Judging by that ring around the hand stack, it must’ve stayed submerged with the use of a dime.

It would be funny if vintage cars went like this and people started trying to destroy the paint to pump up the value.
