hi Just realised that I will be in.SF next week... Alone... And was wondering if any forum members will have spare time for a beer and watches discussion? Will be there from Friday afternoon to Tuesday morning.
I've always wondered why I couldn't find much on watch gatherings in San Francisco. Depending on the exact day, count me in!
I will be in SF, near union square, from the July 28th to 31th then I will be in Santa Clara from August 1st to August 3th. But will be available for multiple GTG if needed
Sounds great! Let's the thread Continue and then will discuss through PM about the place to meet! ( Of course I will follow advise from local people!) I was also thinking about visiting Jacek at HQmilton but I don't know if they will allow a group visit... I could ask if other are Interested... Maybe Saturday afternoon...
right near where Jacek's shop is (about 5 blocks away) is a great place with a great beer selection on tap and grilled sausages: http://www.rosamundesausagegrill.com/mission-street.html But it is all about the beer here...
I think for security reasons we should define the place to meet through PM when will, have all participants validated
We'll also want to find a place with a private room, since we won't want to be sitting out with a bunch of expensive watches
I would propose to meet on Saturday 29th for a drink or maybe a Diner if people have enough time. We can change the date if it is easier for most of people to be here. Feel free to join us! We are currently 3 (maybe 4 maybe 5)!
To bad I moved about 5 years ago from the bay area . Use to meet up with forum members from another when I lived in the bay area for GTG. Been a long time since I been to a GTG. And PM's and emails are the best way for security for telling the time and location like Frost said. All ways thought were Jacek's shop is was a bad area of SF a weird place for a shop.
Definitely not the best area of the city but the Mission is certainly nicer than it was 5 years ago. That was probably the only place Jacek and co. could afford rent back then (and probably still is, I imagine!).
Yes, I never felt very secure when visiting Jacek in the past. Anyway that was just an.option and main.goal is the beer.... ... And occasionnaly the watches
I can do 29th if later (evening time) - going to be in the 'burbs with the kids during the day. The Mission is an interesting place; but it is certainly different from 5 years ago. The pace of gentrification in San Francisco is astounding. Looking forward to hearing if/when folks are available.
The Mission is mostly fine now, as long as we find a place on one of the main avenues we should be secure enough. I'll Google a few places later today
Use to take Bart to SF parking a bummer I bought a Tudor Snowflake and had SF Rolex service center service it. I wanted a bracelet for it and one of the watchmakers at SF service center told me to contact Jacek's shop so I did took Bart over to it and the shop was closed so got it some were else. Any one goes to Jacek's shop call ahead to set up a appointment mite of changed were they have regular shop hours.
