My good friends at the Miami Boutique in Aventura, have just sent me some pictures of the Meteorite version of the Dark Side.

It has to be said it looks stunning. I have owned a DS and I just couldn't live with the all black bit, but the sedna gold bezel coupled with that dial is just stunning. The dial actually comes from the same piece of meteorite that gave us the amazing Apollo-Soyuz 35th Anniversary. Circa 4 billion years old and found in Namibia, Africa.

US retail is $15600 + state tax its not for the faint hearted in terms of outlay.

Photos Courtesy of Leslie and Chris @ Aventura Boutique.

amazing how different the angle of view/intensity of the light does to the look of that dial...the first pic is blah! but the dial looks awesome on the second photo!

Been wanting to see this in person. But I believe its a grey side instead of dark side.

I absolutely love this one.. what a great time to be discovering Omega....

Problem for me is trying to find a way to fit this onto a collection with a greyside/darkside/soyuz... I'm unwilling to part with any of the above.. but damn the meteorite GS is killer...
The fact that they priced it in line with the Sedna black may just drive a nail into the coffin of that one...

It is such a shame that they had to spoil it with the date window again - just like the Mk II and the Globemaster.

I personally prefer a date window.

Here's a shot of the watch on Mrs. Jones' wrist while visiting a Botique last weekend. She said it was the coolest watch in the shop that day.

That dial just screams " Throw money at the boutique and take me home with you" at me. As mentioned above, its a shame that there is a date window when it could have just been more of that stunning meteorite dial.

Australia would be the best place to get this. Retail is about US$13,500 including tax, then go to an AD thats not OB for a discount, then claim the 10% sales tax on your way out as a tourist. Even with no discount from OB looking at US$12,500.

I was discussing this piece with my AD on Monday. Not to buy, we just both agreed that they wouldnt be selling many at AU18k retail.

Might actually pay to fly down from California to buy it. I am a little concerned about traveling there though. Everyone knows Australia is entirely populated by criminals (apologies to "The Princess Bride"). :)

    I remember these days....

25% discount and 17.5% vat back!! One of the joys of living in Miami.

I was at the boutique last Tuesday picking up my CK. Left on a trip right after and missed the showing of the new pieces. Bummer. :(

That is a fine watch. Just too big for my wrist. Otherwise it would have joined my collection very soon

Love the texture on that dial. No two dials are the same.

I agree, it's a shame that even luxury OEMs occasionally miss the mark on details like this.
