    Hello All,

My name is Radhika and I am from Dublin, Ireland.
I am not a watch collector or a watch enthusiast and don't know much about watches other than they can keep time :).
My grandfather who was a watch enthusiast passed away a couple of months back. While clearing his belongings I came across this Omega watch. I have never seen my grandpa wear this watch because he had so many of them.
It looks like a gold watch but other than that I do not know anything about it.
I would appreciate any help that i could get from this forum regarding the details of this watch.
For me this is a legacy left behind by my grandpa and I would like to know more about it.
I will post more on the other watches soon.
    Thanking you all in advance.

    Regards,

    Radhika

Your pictures are terrible, though the watch looks to be in really good condition.
Take it to a watch maker & ask them to take the back off. Take pictures of the movt., & the inside of the case back, clear enough to read. There are reference numbers, & hallmarks if gold, inside the caseback.

Thank you for the quick reply and sorry about the quality of pics.
Can i take it to any watch maker or do I need to take it to an authorised omega watch maker?

    Any watchmaker.
Not a basic jeweller with 20 yo changing batteries.

That watch is an Omega Dynamic which is a front loader, so there is no back to remove. If you were to take the watch to a watchmaker to have photos taken of the inside case back and the movement, choose the watchmaker carefully. And you might find yourself spending some money to do this. Can you give us better photos of any stampings there might be in the hinge components of the buckle. There might be a clue there as to what you have.

Let me try to get some good quality pics.
Just by looking at the pics can you tell how old the watch is and if it is unique or not?

The Dynamic was not “unique”, in the true sense of the word. There were lots of them produced in stainless steel and gold shell over stainless steel, in manual wind, and self-winders. I don’t know for how long they were produced, but I would think the would have been produced during the mid 1960s, and perhaps until the early 1970s. They were made with straps (leather, Corfam?), and with bracelets. With the information we have requested, we’ll be able to tell you more. If your’s is solid karat gold alloy (markings inside the case and on the bracelet will tell us), that would be a relatively scarce model, but not unique.

Let me take it to a watchmaker and try to get some pics. Any suggestions for a good watchmaker in Dublin, Ireland?

This is the pic of the clasp that i was able to get using my phone. Not sure what all those markings are as they are pretty small.

I use Dawson Jewelers on Dawson Street. My understanding is Weirs of Grafton Street (who are an Omega AD) contract out all their servicing jobs & repairs to the guys and gals in Dawson Jewelers.

Based on your photos it looks like your watch is one of the solid gold ones.

Clear photos of these marks may tell us the gold content and perhaps a date, at least for the bracelet.

Just showed the watch to my friend who is a watch enthusiast and he examined the watch and according to him it is 18k gold. How much would this watch cost today considering it is pretty old and not unique either?

My immediate thought on the first picture was "that'll be a front opener", but there's a definite case back on this one. Might even be a two-piece back but the photos are a little too fuzzy to be sure. It should open with a standard caseback wrench.

Get it opened and inspected first. Scrap on 18k is around £22 per gramme ... the watch should bring more than scrap value.

No, that's just to allow you to change the strap/bracelet.

Nope! No removable case back! The notched ring looks like it is there to allow case back removal, but it is there simply to hold the head to either a strap or bracelet.

Hey guys, posting another watch from my grandpa's collection. I tried researching this watch on the Omega site and looks like it is a de-ville? Any help on this watch would be highly appreciated.
