Opinions please! Speedmaster 101 suggests a 2998-5 should have a Cal321 with 1841 9xxx - 1894 5xxx, and this one has a 1983 xxx, not to mention a green bezel? http://www.ebay.ca/ulk/itm/172025654942

The bezels can patinate in a variety of ways, I've seen shades of blue, purple and green on these so its not surprising. Dial is one of those odd later 105.003 dials and the hands look odd too.

Thanks dsio! Any thoughts on the originality of the movement? According to Speedmaster 101, the movement is out of the range of a 2998-5?

Yeah, movement number would be in 2998-62 / 105.002 territory.

Chrono hand is incorrect.

Hands look ok, but it seems that all alpha hands I've seen lately are empty of lume. Hmmmm....

Later dial, but better than a service dial or worse, right? Did you see the 2998-62 with repainted dial earlier in the week?

Generally, not the worst one to come up lately. Also one of the only ones to come up lately.

I've never bought from Alex, but others have recommended (or at least not warned against) him. Do your homework.

Will be an interesting one to watch.

Wrong dial. Wrong movement. Wrong sweep second hand. It sold for $9600. Sheeeeeeet!
