We want YOU for AWCI!

We want YOU as a member with AWCI, and we're now offering a great opportunity to become one!

The AWCI Board of Directors during its annual board meeting September 30 approved an initiative to draw new or former AWCI members into the fold and grow the membership base.

“Our new membership drive has started, and we want you to be a part of it. AWCI is the premier organization dedicated to the horological arts, and is essential toward keeping the art alive,” read a statement from the AWCI Board of Directors. “As a member, you’d be participating in keeping it alive, but also gain access to the many benefits offered our members. Some say horology and its practitioners are dying, but the art and science of horology is gaining worldwide popularity as independent makers grow and the brands increase output. The need for professional clockmakers and watchmakers is growing rapidly, and we are dedicated to advancing the industry through outreach and education. We need your participation to accomplish this.”

The new membership drive consists of offering those who have never been a member of AWCI before, or those who may have let their membership lapse on or before December 31, 2020, to receive a two-year membership at the introductory price of $200, in addition to a welcome packet that would include – while supplies last – a welcome gift of the following six books published by AWCI:

-- The Museum of the American Watchmakers Institute, by Henry Fried

-- Watch and Clock Information Please, by W.H. Samelius

-- How to Build a Regulator Clock, by J.M.Huckabee

-- Military Timepieces, by Marvin E. Whitney

-- The Best of J.E. Coleman, Watchmaker, by J.E. Coleman

-- The Ship’s Chronometer, by Marvin E. Whitney

“We have members at all levels of skill and interest, and regardless of your level of interest, there’s something for you, and you will help grow the next generation of horologists,” concluded the statement from the AWCI Board of Directors.

From an expanded curriculum of watch and clock courses, to CW21 certification, to our annual Fall Symposium, Build a Watch courses on the Archie Perkins Mobile Horology Classroom, our award winning Horological Times magazine and more, AWCI has been revitalized and is carrying a lot of momentum into 2024, and we want YOU to be part of it all!

The 2024 AWCI new membership drive runs through the end of January 2024. Anyone with questions regarding their AWCI membership renewal, or in joining AWCI, can contact AWCI Office Manager James Sprague at 513-367-9800, ext. 303, or via email at [email protected]
