Grandfathers watch- need advice

Hello, wondering if anybody can shed light on this watch? Its been in the family for decades and I am unsure as to what the reference number is etc. It runs very well and keeps good time. Wondering if I should have it refurbed or if I am better off leaving it as is. Also not sure if the band is factory or third party. Thanks for any insight.

The reference no will be inside the case back but it likely dates to the 50’s.
The band is certainly aftermarket.
If you’re regularly wearing it, it would likely be worth getting the movement serviced. If it’s sat in a drawer I would leave it as is.

Thanks for your response. While t has not been worn in close to 25 years, I am planning on having it refurbished, and ten finding a more appropriate band for it

Stick to a leather strap. You can see how much damage has been done to the lugs by the metal bracelet

Unfortunately, the dial has been refinished at some point so it is not very valuable in dollars, but a great family piece. I would definitely have it serviced and wear on a nice leather strap

Thanks for your inout. I tend to agree with you. Looking forward to learning more about it when I bring it in for a refurb and service. Will find a leather band and will enjoy it for sure!
