Hello all, my Grandfather just passed and gave me his Omega Automatic Seamaster. i haven't been able to find any information in my searches. any help would be greatly appreciated.
Well, It looks like an Omega Automatic Seamaster, but I'd really have to see better pictures to be sure.
Still looks like an Omega Automatic Seamaster. Condition seems very good, but the pic isn't the best to see the dial details. If you can have someone open the back, it will show the reference number inside the caseback, and the movement serial number can be used to date it.
A shot of the inside of the case back would help better. The Omega vintage database offers up 4 models which match a Seamster with calibre 471 movement but none of the cases look exactly like this one.
Reference 2802? Very nice watch! http://forums.watchuseek.com/f29/so...y-patina-all-original-unpolished-1443970.html
Caliber 471 is a manual wind from circa 1957. I don't recognize the case, but others will no doubt. It looks sharp though. I believe the dial to have been refinished at some point in the past. Nice family heirloom.
Uh, how can it be a manual wind with a rotating weight? Not trying to be argumentative, but either something is off at OVD or this is an interesting Franken...
Yup, I had manual on the brain, and typed it wrong in a hurry. The minute track appears misaligned to me, which is why I believe it to be a redial.
The Automatic font has me questioning it as well. Would love to see the Seamaster font without the hands covering it. This would help clear this issue up.
I'm not so sure it is...the last picture is blurry and on a slight angle. What's needed is a clear focused straight on picture. I have a 1952 ref. 2577 with what looks like identical Seamaster text. A focused picture would be more helpful.
