    Grandad retired from Fry's Chocolate Company in 1927 after 47 years service he had previously served an apprentaship
    as a cabinet maker at Fry's for 5 years making his total service to the company 52years (he was 12years old when he was apprentised.
    This Half Hunter is in 24K solid rose gold,

    Do I not detect the 18 stamp inside the case back? This would indicate solid 18 karat, not 24 karat. Anyway, nice watch.

    You are right Canuck I have just taken a loupe to the Crown Shaft and the mark is cleat for 18K

    Even if it wasn’t marked it’s extremely rare to find anything made from pure gold as it’s quite soft. Maybe 22k is used occasionally, but 18k is definitely the default choice for a top quality “solid gold” case.
