Up for sale is my Grand Seiko 5722-9990, the so-called “Self Dater” from 1966. The stainless steel case is 36 mm sans crown, but it wears a little bigger due to the relatively thin bezel, beefy lugs and overall length of 43 mm.

This the second Grand Seiko, and as such has an important place in Grand Seiko history.

The watch contains the chronometer grade 5772-B hand wound movement, which is as clean as a whistle.

It was a little hard for me to get photos that show how well the watch presents in person, especially the beautiful radial finish silver dial. I consider the dial and hands to be nearly perfect. With magnification you can see multiple scratches on the case and a tiny ding on the bottom right lug, but nothing that stands out to the naked eye.

These watches are priced all over the place. I am asking $1450 net, which I think is about right for this example. Price includes fully insured shipping to CONUS addresses by US Registered Mail. For other destinations, let’s have a conversation.

Beautiful watch in really nice condition!

I believe the production on your watch is July 1966.

If I didn't already have one, I would grab it. Great example.

You are correct. The first number is the year and the second the month. I actually knew that but went a little sideways mentally for a moment when writing the listing. Mea culpa.

I do not know the seller; but i think this is absolutely gorgeous.

This vintage GS has one of the cleanest dials. Pretty common to have some light patina on the dials, and most GS dials i have seen have bit of stains / scratches from careless watchmakers.

Dont need luck with this one, should go fast!
