Curious why this is indicated as 'gossip'.

I can't make myself care about either Hoodinkee or WatchBox for I follow neither site, have never accessed either site. They are unimportant to me and I'm unfamiliar with the individual under discussion.

Now, if Mad Dog or Syrte jump ship here in favor of WatchYouSeek or the Rolex Forum I'll generate some concern.

I'm actually somewhat surprised that he didn't have a non-compete agreement in place to prevent this sort of direct leaving one for another in the same space.

Maybe they were happy to see him go...

yeah. Seems like news to me, not gossip.

True. 'Gossip' used tongue in cheek. Also, while gossip may discuss rumors, gossip can also discuss news about the personal affairs of others, as in "hey, guess who I heard is leaving Hodinkee!" (The less serious topic the better...)

Guess I'll never make it as a writer 😟

Watches are his life, I don't think that Jack would sign a non-compete that would bar him from working in the watch industry.

Yes content is king and they know it!

I thought, Watches are King ? Talking about them is more important than handling them in person ? Because the Internet is SO trustworthy? Interesting times.

Exactly what hoodwinkee would like you to believe. Especially price-wise.

If I remember correctly, Forster was the one person at Hodinkee who actually was a good writer, in the sense that he expressed interesting insights and worthwhile information in an engaging and stylish way. He also was a good writer in the sense that he demonstrated an ability to spell words and punctuate sentences correctly, so I guess in both senses Hodinkee lost their only good writer.

He wrote excellent articles, not puff pieces. The Dink just slipped badly.

Listening to him wax philosophical on the clockwork universe was pretty refreshing. Him and Cole were the lifeblood of that site. Watchbox will be much better for it. Hodinkee will burn in their own comments section.

Wait did Jon Bues leave Hodinkee as well? They had major turnover and I have been slowly loosing interest in their site to Fratello. I think other than Talking Watches I am somewhat done with them myself.

I bought a watch off watchbox, not the smartest thing to do but they bought something I had so it was convenient. The sell/buy process was smooth and good communication but I had no idea they had content beyond explanations and prices of the watches they had. I obviously missed something.

This gave me a really good laugh, thank you for it and thanks for the generous endorsement 👍
Don’t know about @Mad Dog but I sure am not jumping ship in such fashion. 😜
