Brian Blessed OBE turned 85 this weekend. What a top bloke - accomplished actor, mountaineer, adventurer, midwife, trained astronaut, louder than a jet engine and respected member of the British Interplanetary Society...
happy birthday......Eloquent and educated.....and taking swearing to Shakespearean levels ....

Attempted Everest on three occasions, almost summited on the first climb, and just shy of the South Col on the second. All without supplemental oxygen.

A man of his build shouldn’t even make it to Base Camp, let alone negotiate the Khumbu Icefall.

I remember watching him in an episode of The Sweeney. A hard man indeed!!!

The bloke is a legend! Have been watching some reruns of Tales if the Unexpected and he featured in one of the episodes.

All stories improve with the telling and he is a great raconteur....this is him describing hand to hand combat with a polar bear on route to the Magnetic North Pole.... while stopping to have a sing along on a Russian Nuclear sub ;0)
