Yup the kardashians, violent video games, marijuana and women with loose morals are the four horsemen of the societal apocalypse.

Yawn, next.

The Kardashians AND women with loose morals? And by the way, shouldn’t it be “horsepersons”? What do you have against women?

LOL.

“contributing to the downfall of society...”

1)You are giving way too much credit to the women you are bashing.

2)Their media rise have ZERO affect to your life. Or anyone in this forum.
Maybe consume less Kadashian news.

3) You just HELPED the women you are bashing by discussing them in a watch forum. so YOU helped fuel the popularity of the women you are bashing.

4,5,6) Shitting on women did no wrong to you in a male dominated forum makes you an asshole.

the Kadishian aren’t politicians. They have absolutely Zero influence to your life. Simply stop consuming their media and stop discussing them. That will help reduce their popularity.

When one is aware of cultural trends that are disturbing, one of them being the rise of esteem and adoration to people that receive it that have essentially done nothing to deserve it, is something that is worthy of thought and discussion, particularly focusing on what’s giving rise to it. Whether they are men, or women. So, no, they in fact have had an effect on my life because their behavior is emblematic of something I don’t value. Further, by discussing issues and hearing the opinions of others, one doesn’t “fuel” their popularity. In fact, it perhaps lessens their impact by building consensus and sometimes, positive actions may follow. Is it your opinion that when other issues that arise in society that one doesn’t care for, they shouldn’t be talked about, because then they go away? Historically, this has almost never been the case.

And, if being perplexed and amused that the most superficial act like baking bread by a celebrity is headline-worthy, and by calling it out makes me an asshole just because the person is a female, and not because of the situation dynamics, then it has unfortunately gone over your head.

All this writing about celebs just feeds them. The best thing to do is ignore them - never read, never watch - that's what I do, and the same goes for all the stupid reality TV programmes.

Bob, I don’t think you are aware how search/news algorithm works.
For a piece of news to go away: you don’t click it. You don’t share it. You don’t comment on it. ESPECIALLY IN PUBLIC FORUMS.

The fact that you consumed a Kadashian article, shared it here and solicited comments helped popularized the article.

Not only did you enriched the women you bashed, MORE IMPORTANTLY, you incentivized the writer that wrote these articles. This isn’t a debate. It’s a fact!

You and 15 of your friends here just voted for more Kadashian articles!!!

by the way, the kadashian woman in the article whom baked the bread did nothing wrong. And certainly being called “prostitute” is way over the line, especially in a male dominated forums. Hold yourself to higher standard.

You may very well be correct about how news algorithms work. But if you think that by not sharing something, you make the problem disappear, or get closer to understanding the genesis of what created it, OR that it brings you closer to eradicating it, whatever distasteful societal problem it may be, then you are delusional.

I never called anyone a prostitute. My quote:

“More like “prostituted” her entire family...“

I’m sure you are aware, but maybe not, that the word can be used as a verb:

“To put (oneself or one's talents) to an unworthy or corrupt use or purpose for the sake of personal or financial gain.”

Maybe before you start calling people derogatory names, you should quote them properly, and understand simple grammar.

Thanks, you made your point.

Further, I don’t really understand your behavior, especially for someone who has been around here a long time.

This Open Discussion forum has been host to a staggering variety of different threads over the years, including guns, cars, bikes, mental illness, parental death, relationship issues - the list is endless.

I personally don’t think my post was out of acceptable bounds, and if the moderators around here do, I would be surprised, but of course they are free to delete it.

Last time I checked, you are not a moderator here. So, it just comes down to you not liking, or not wanting to constructively contribute to the thread. You could always choose not to say something, rather than tell someone to take it elsewhere. I’m not interested in all of your threads or comments, but others could be, so what right do I have to be negative about it, like you are doing? None.

Bob

How is this , I am a mod and I find your post distasteful and I equate to talking about trolls. Nothing good comes of it and from what I am told there are other venues out there that you can post this type of stuff. ( I have no interest so I can t give you a url to go to). Please dont post this type of stuff here there is no place for it.

your comment to @STANDY

Is also not respectful to another member here on the site. Anyone does not have to be a moderator to basically say this is our community and this type of conversation really is not the place for this ... others also have said the same this via likes etc....

Bob, I just dont get it you always seem to come back to this type of stuff ....

I dont get it and my patience is getting thin....

Bill

May not be a moderator but I can have a opinion.

Had 3 PMs after my first comment from members who don’t like the thread or the way it’s going.

If you started a thread about YOU making a loaf of bread I would be happy.

Let's be honest, it's non news, but it's also harmless.

Publishers know it gets views/clicks, so can sell advertising around it, and the more it is viewed/clicked, the more of it they make.

If you don't want to see more of it, the best answer is to not visit the sites who publish it, and don't click or share links to it.

For example, I don't like Hodinkee. So I don't visit their website. It feels good.

It IS harmful to the forum , harmful to watch collectors and harmful to ANY male dominated space that promotes inclusion.

I never called anyone a prostitute. My quote:
“More like “prostituted” her entire family...“

You didn’t call a woman a prostitute, you called her entire family. I got it.
Please excuse my limited understanding of basic grammar.

How many men here want to be associated with this garbage?

My intent was never to troll with this post, merely to stimulate some lively debate and discussion. If it crossed the line, and is inappropriate for the forum, then I apologize.
