Wide speculation over the past few days Rolex is discontinuing GMT BLNR aka Batman. Rumored it will be replaced by the new movement which powers the 126710 and other newer models. Personally, one of my favorite modern models, if true, it will be the end of the 1st bicolor ceramic Rolex model. Glad I picked one up this year.
I personally think all models with the older movement will be discontinued and replaced with the new movement. I don’t think that the color variations will change much.
According to rolex representative in australia its the movement with 31’s will be discontinued not the actual model. So basically its the movement and casing update so the recent gmt master 2 ref 116710 will be a Collector’s in the future due to its discontinued movement.
This speculation of the end of the BLNR has been going on for ages. The Rolex representative may indeed be telling the truth that the movements will be replaced but forgot to mention that they may not do it for another 5 years.
Well, the market has reacted as most gray mkt dealers have increased their pricing based on speculation.
Rolex reps don't know what the company is going to do re: new models as a rule, and anybody that discloses any info they do have won't be working for Rolex for long. It's obvious that the 3135 series of movements are being replaced with the 32-- movements, and there will be tweaks on existing models when this happens (and the odd redesigns). New movement expansion is usually a top-down affair so since the GMT "Pepsi" and the PM versions have the new movement, there's bound to be additional models soon.
good looking watch. I was caught up in the fad but traded it away a couple years ago. regret not trading now hehe. I did not lose any money but only maybe couple hundred bucks.
