Hi all, Got a couple of decent dress watches and a few cheaper but nice looking watches (Rotary, Fossil etc). However I have nothing which is tough and fairly inexpensive as a day to day watch. I'm looking for something for wearing around the garden, but doesn't look shocking. At the moment my thoughts are around Sekio or maybe a Russian Poljot as something fun and different. I want a price of around £150 as I have a habit of breaking/damaging my everyday watches. I'm just looking for inspiration. I looked in the WAUW thread for some ideas and I've seen quite a few chunky tough watches - but not too many on the lower end. Cheers
Funny, I also like Poljot for daily beaters as well as seiko... the Russian side of Poljot makes me feel like I'm much more muscular than I am Can't go wrong with either. Or you can go the vintage way and find yourself many gorgeous, long-forgotten swiss brands that have done superb designs in the 70's that barely sell used for $200 today. There's a surprising amount of them
I know it's quartz but it took over 15 years of beating before the thing actually gave up. And they are probably a dime a dozen now.
SKX 009 or the 007. Also the Seiko SNZG15, is amazing. My GF got one for her everyday watch, and that watch looks way better in pictures. I love my 009, I got my Dad a 007 and he never takes it off. I personally like the bracelet it comes with, but I rotate a bunch of Nato's with it.
I'm farming and a Seiko kinetic SKA371 has stood up to everything I've put it through. It does need to be worn for about 2 days a week though to keep it charged. Some of the eco-drives might be worth a look too.
I am with the Seiko's. SKX007 for me, it has been my daily wearer on the building site for 12 years or more.
Another +1 for the Seiko 007/009. I have the 009, currently on a blue NATO and it's my go-to beater for swimming, gardening etc.
SWATCH Rubin from 1991. This is my only back up wristwatch. For a $40 automatic that has never been serviced and approaching 30 years old, it maintains remarkable time. The strap and buckle are not the original that came on the watch. I prefer my selection.
Another vote for the 009, best sub-$200 watch around in my opinion. Can handle anything and keep on going.
