Greetings gents, Curious about this one education-wise... is this redial or a reasonable deal for a gold filled example? The dial looks legit to me. http://m.ebay.com/itm/UNIVERSAL-GEN...CE-TIMEPIECE-/391663469351?nav=WATCHING_ENDEDPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network Thanks and best regards, S
Better to focus on Compur, Uni, Compax or Tri Compax. These day date models are well .... meh! Lots of nice 3 hand watches out there as well.
Calendar watches are perfectly respectable UG models. In fact, they are a Universal Geneve signature and beloved by many. Sure - the watch is gold filled. But I feel somebody has to be a bit overly elitist to deny a watch on that basis alone. The dial isn't super attractive to me, but it's the subdial hands that really turn me off.
I like how balanced is the dial on those. I find the dial of a tri compax a tad too busy for my taste, most will disagree.
I prefer to see things the other way around, if everybody is focused on chrono's, then it is a good time to buy a triple date.
Darn, I knew I should never post anything of interest. Now you're leading everyone onto my little project. Thanks.
Unintended, my point was more that you need to have very deep pockets to be chasing todays "what's hot". There is always much better value to be found in "Meh" watches And being very careful with my hard earned euros has always helped me to find good value watches by looking at and where other people aren't
Gee, and now you're digging even deeper. Actually, I agree with @Larry S, they are "meh watches", look elsewhere people.
Wise words, I think only really possible when one has been "at it" for a bit, in the beginning it is easy to be caught up in the here and now of "what's hot" instead of taking a more relaxed and longer term view of where to park the watch funds.
Jeez and yesterday I said to avoid lemming behavior. To me the dials on the triple dates are just not attractive. @cristos71 ... very nice watch though.
