Good day to catch mahi-mahi

    Met with an old school buddy who is into fishing and went out for some fishing, we ended with eight mahi-mahi's at the end of the day...[​IMG][​IMG]

    No, I didn't either. :( I would have really like duking it out with some 20 lb class dorado too.

    Wow, nice catch!!

    I worked on the Great Barrier Reef for a few months in the 90s as chef on board the mother ship for two sport fishing boats during the marlin season.

    It was an incredible experience and I have some unforgettable memories, really hard graft but a lot of time for some great seafood cooking with the freshest of the fresh and of course the most amazing fishing too, which I will never forget.

    Looks like you had a fantastic day-and I have to ask-how did they taste?

    Phew!!! I was worried about our pal Alam.......... I thought Mahi-Mahi was a sexually transmitted disease and that was his colon he was holding !!

    Now I get it.

    In Florida, we call these "dolphin" with the collective plural, like sheep. Not sure why that is.

    I love to play tricks on unsuspecting northerners who order this fish based on a waiter's recommendation.

    I ask them if they know that they're eating Flipper. :D

    Sorry guys, it was a last minute decision on my part and almost missed the boat myself! At the end of the day we asked a friend of ours who is a chef in a local restaurant to prep several pounds of them and they turned out freshly delicious!! Incidentally, I suspect I got a healthy dose of Omega-3 this past week!
