A friend sent this article over today. http://gearpatrol.com/2013/02/07/how-to-buy-a-vintage-watch/ Good common sense information for the newbie. A reminder to the more experienced. gatorcpa
I don't know who Jason Heaton is, but his advice is something we hammer home to n00bs every day: If we’ve managed to sell you on the merits of buying vintage, now it’s time to caution you. The vintage watch market is rife with fakes, so-called “frankenwatches”, and unscrupulous sellers. Do your homework. Talk to collectors, join web forums and ask questions; learn about the watches you’re interested in. Post photos and solicit feedback. Hallelujah brotha! Wonder if I can use my (much less than) significant pull and status to get guys like him to join up?
It's like I say about the IRS...if you don't ask, you don't get. He did mention a couple of other forums in the article. gatorcpa
