Thought it more appropriate to post in a separate thread.

I got an e-mail about this watch and they'll take $3200 for it outside of eBay:

Thank you. I was afraid of that. JUST out of my range.

If he's saying he'll take 3200, he'll probably accept 2800 if he's not taking paypal fees and ebay fees off the top

Its worth reading up on these too, they're not just desirable chronometers, they're rather rare ducks too.

You guys won't believe this, but I like this watch in stainless instead of gold. I know about the rarity, and I know that goes against my principle about having the value of the gold as a back up in case the watch market goes the way of stamps and baseball cards, but it's a great casual watch and not dressy enough for me to consider solid gold. It's all relative though - I follow the hardcore definition of what a dress watch is.

Yes they did - I've never seen an example in RG and only 2 ever in WG.

Sign me up for one of those I think, I'd prefer WG > RG > YG. Unless they had a PT Seamaster, that'd be perfect IMO ;)

My big mistake was collecting phone cards - those old magnetic cards you put into public phones instead of coins. There were cards I was paying 10 or 20 times face value. Now, they are worthless... I threw away many thousands of dollars on that.

I think vintage omegas will have a bit more staying power. The key here is that the brand is going strong and increasing in prestige at the present time. Of course there is the chance that omega the brand and swatch the company will go belly up in the future but hopefully that won't happen at least in the next several years. All collectibles have an underlying market but the support for vintage omegas is stronger than most not only because the present day omega brand is doing well but also because the appeal is global and not restricted to a particular country or continent.
