Did omega ever produce gold plated watches?
or were they always mode of solid gold?

 

Umm millions of them, gold plate, gold filled. Most supposedly gold Omegas you see will actually be plated or filled. The steel caseback is one giveaway. Many ebay sellers use the term gold in a very fast and free and deliberately dishonest way.

 

Yes, they did. A lot. Have a couple myself, plated, filled, etc.

 

Physical vapor depostion is also used to plate cases. Omega has used these processes in the past, and a Swatch still does on some watches they produce. For a description of the process, here is a link.
