    Hi fellows,

Coming up is a deal with this Seamaster, which has a 18K gold case and this dial ... the seller's photos are bad, and he is also not sure if the dial is solid gold or not, so... what do you think?

The only way for you to know for sure is to ask seller to take picture of the back of the dial. If it is gold there will be a gold marking in the back of the dial. Not sure seller will accept though.

Yeah, to be 100% sure, that is the method ... however I have experienced a dial for IWC without any markings, but still is 18K 0.750 when checked with equipment...

What do you mean "when checked with equipment"? Which equipment did you use? Gold test solution?

It should have 14k gold marked between lugs if it’s a monocoque case iirc

Solid gold Omega dials I've seen are marked with "OM" (Or Massif) either side of the "SWISS MADE".

I'm not sure if all Omega solid gold dials followed this marking rule though.

And I suspect that this one has been redialed anyway.

Looks like the gold is worn off the lower lugs :)

Are you saying it’s very polished or that it might not be solid gold?

the case is solid gold, but its condition just does not worth it... thanks all... still, the dial is a mystery, but I am almost sure it is not gold

Did you see a hallmark? The dial looks a bit like those slightly adventurously designed American cased Seamasters which were also available in gold filled varieties...
