Gold filled items in ultrasonic cleaners?

I picked up several vintage Kreisler gold filled bracelets and the guy who sold them to me used silver polish on them.

I tired cleaning them in my normal method, (hot water, dish soap, ammonia and isopropyl alcohol) but no matter how I try some polish remains stuck between the links and inside the end pieces.

So I can I put gold filled items into a US cleaner or will that damage the gold fill?

Goddards silver dip and a toothbrush will remove the excess polish without any problems.

Thanks jimmyd13. It's a combination of silver polish, dead skin and dirt. I tried steam, a baking soda slurry and my solution above and it's a tough clean up. I'll look for Goddards and give it a go.

The silver dip is basically a mix of detergents that works well on all precious metals to dissolve away the usual human detritus that jewellery and watches accumulate but I've also found it words really well on the residue of other cleaners that you can't get out of things like marquisite.

Ultrasonics won’t hurt gold filled material. I use Mr. Clean and water, preferably heated. Then an old tooth brush, or whatever you have. Gold electro-plate? With that i’d be careful.

    Thanks jimmyd13.

Thanks for that info Canuck. Hadn't heard about using Mr. Clean before, learn something new everyday.
