    For some reason the 14k gold aren't as popular in GB..I don't know why? were they mainly produced in the States?

    Yes, 14ct was a US thing, and 9 ct was for the UK. It was illegal to call anything under 10ct "solid gold" in America.

    Gold is different all over the world and there are a lot of different laws, some are strange. For instance in the U.K you can sell 9,14,18 or 22 carat but not 12, do not know why it is just against the law for some reason. In Portugal you can not describe anything under 12 carat as gold, but in Germany gold starts at 8 carats!

    Kinda strapped from some recent buys but oooh so tempting...

    I have a tough time telling vintage without a serial #, so I'm wondering approx. what year this is?

    Hi Ted. The 50x series was used from the mid to late 50's.
