They don’t come up often. What do people think of this one?? 8 days left, currently at £2000.

I think this will do close to $5K USD, if not more.

I’m blown away by the prices on these. Somebody made a ton of money sorting through the dumpster behind the RSC.

I’d buy some regular old ones and just bake them in the sun for a year 😎

😲😲 I think you have to be insane to spend that kind of bread on an insert. Totally insane...😕

Even the back faded, looks like sunlight wasn't responsible for the fade then. I don't really see the appeal, it's got a couple of deep scratches. So I wouldn't want it on my GMT but at over £2k I wouldn't hesitate for a second to flog it on ebay.

I love how a lot of the value in Rolex seems to be tied up in how poorly they hold up over time. I mean sure, I think the fuschia is a pretty fade, don't get me wrong. And yes, it is much the same as tropical Speedies - I get it. But I'd rather have a perfect DON than a "ghost bezel".

May I ask why would you prefer a DON over a ghosted one? Seems to me it's abit hard to see a DON (from afar) yet the ghosted one seems very obvious

A short soak in a bowl of bleach will get you the same result...

Most of these aren’t “natural” but “enhanced”. Ironic really as these same collectors freak out over laser welded and recut cases being unauthentic. Or when you see these fuscia bezels on crisp, mint cases with flawless chamfers

There is one school of thought that fuchsia bezels left the factory fuchsia. The other gmt bezels only fade when exposed to the elements, and do not fade when stored in a safe.

The ones that you see that are artificially faded have faded backs as well because they were chemically treated.

Mine has nearly zero fade on the front and the back is a matching deep fuchsia which makes me think it has not changed colors.

Natural fade and bleach treatment produce completely different results. Collectors can usually spot the “tells” and won’t touch artificial ones.

Personally I wouldn't describe that that eBay item as a "fuchsia" insert...it's more faded-red-raspberry to my eyes.
At any rate, you'll find lots of differing opinions on fuchsia inserts. FWIW, I only find them acceptable on, roughly, late 1964 to late '68 era GMTs.

Well mine isn't fushia more fading orange. If I can think of a kool colour term maybe its worth K's. Maybe call it " peach red"?
Nah hasn't got the cachet !

The agent can be applied as a spray with the back being carefully masked.

I have zero experience in tinkering with rolex inserts, but I have some tinkering with de-ano products with other hobbies... and indeed I don't see why this wouldn't be the case!

I love a faded and ghosted bezel but I’m not convinced they get this way by simply being left in the Saudi sunshine for decades... most with no signs of a scratch, chip or dent. Like the dials and cases they’re matched with. And they just seem to be everywhere these days...
