This 1968 Glycine Airman has all the most desired features of a 1960s Airman, I think: the hatched winding crown, the black date numerals, the snap-on caseback, the later Glycine “crown” logo, and of course the functioning hacking mechanism. It was freshly serviced in July 2022 by the great James Sadilek in Carson City, Nevada, the man to go to for this brand. Luckily, he did not have to repair or replace the hacking rig, which was in perfect working order when I came into possession of it. The watch runs beautifully and the date wheel advances with a satisfying Leica camera-like snap when you wind it the full 24 hours (no quick-change mechanism on these watches).

At 36mm, the Airman is the poster child for “but it wears larger”-sized watches. The massive lugs and two crowns give it a hefty look, and the Airman dial is the most impeccably legible 24-hour design extant, in my opinion. (It is a true 24-hour design, not a GMT model. Believe me, you get used to it in no time.) I have owned three Airman watches and this is the best one I’ve found.

I am asking US$1,855 plus shipping. The watch and I are located in Japan and EMS shipping coverage is highly dependent on where you are in the world. I can accept payment by PayPal, Wise, or bank transfer. I will include the new leather NATO strap as pictured.

Please review the photos carefully. I don’t have a movement photo just because these snap-on casebacks can be tricky. The caseback shows evidence of a previous owner’s (?) inexpert attempts to open the case. If you are reluctant to take my word that the movement is newly serviced and in good shape, I will see what I can do to get a movement shot for you.

I have a few testimonials on this site and unanimous accolades on Japan’s Yahoo! Auctions.

Great condition watch at a good price. Recently serviced by the no. 1 expert with a functioning hack. The Airman covers a lot of categories, with space history, Air Force pilot history, a unique movement with the hack and the 24 hour dial, as well as a highly wearable and beautifully designed vintage watch.

You're offering this up on a silver platter.

Oh, and nice strap.
