Glowing tritium lume on the hands, but not the hour markers

Hey guys, I just bought a speedy pro from the early 90s. Just wondering if it's normal for the lune to still glow on the hands, but not the hour markers? If so, why? If not, then were the hands a replacement? Here are some pics of it in the light and dark.

Pictures would help, but it's probably replaced hands as you suspect.

Odds are a pre 98 Watch marked T Swiss T on the dial with replacement luminova hands.

Not too much, you could always have the tritium removed and replace with a non glow substitute, or look for tritium hands for sale.

Okay would rather go the titrium route and keep with the time frame.

I had the luminova on the hands of a 70's Speedmaster replaced by radium---my watchmaker has an old stash. The radium is a good color match AND a good glow match to the tritium hour markers.

Ethically you should notify any future owner of this fact and any watchmaker that is considering working on the watch. You could be affecting their health should they come into direct contact with the radium.

Best bet is eBay. Same hands from 1969 through 98/99 at the luminova switch.

Sometimes called 145.022 hands.

To be honest finding Tritium hands may not solve your problem. The ageing on the dial may not match the found hands.

Leave as is or have a colormatch with paint or luminova down the line. That's what I would do for this era watch.

Good luck with that, but PM if you want as I can refer you to someone with experience in applying Lume coloured to match perfectly aged tritium to your indice plots.

I suppose the hands were replaced during service by the owner. Does Omega typically do this as part of service or was it an independent watch shop? http://speedmaster101.com/blog/superluminova-vs-tritium/
My guess independent shop. Omega would have most likely replaced the dial also. Dial is consistent with @1990-98. I.e. Type C5 Fat "S"short "r"

Unless there is a problem with lume flaking off the dial, Omega would not likely replace the dial - hands are pretty much automatic with them. More likely to be Omega actually...
