Hello Omega lovers,

How rare are 1950’s Omega Globemaster Automatics, Cal. 491 ?

Thanks

This one had the Star Watch Case Co on the inside caseback without Omega in the triangle. I might purchase but I don’t any on EBay or Chrono to know the approximate value.

Took me a while to purchase this one.... I find it odd that it doesn't seem as sought after as the connies that followed considering how rare they are to find...

Beautiful! Was the price reasonable? Over or under $1000?

I want to say I remember paying no more than $1000 😀.

Great thanks 👍
These watches are in very different condition, however, with a lot of dial damage on the OP watch. Looks like water intrusion and mold.

Upper right lug is obviously badly crooked - and maybe also lower right, not 100% sure about the latter...

Pass for me, well under $500

Yes I wasn’t sure about the patina

Look in the For Sale forum, you will definitely see much nicer vintage watches for less than $750 and much lower risk.

Great thanks, saves me a ferry ride. I didn’t know there is a for sale section here. 🤩

Patina is a very kind word. I personally consider that dial damaged. For $750 it's a hard and easy pass.

Kind of plain I guess
It comes down to personal preference of course. These remind me of Deville lugs which I'm not fond of. I much prefer beefier Seamaster lugs or dog legs.

The OP watch would be too far gone for me. Ugly damaged dial, bent lugs …
