I almost bought a Panera bread watch today. It was one of the vintage looking ones, and was priced where a bread watch should be. But I thought myself, self, what are doing, you could buy a nice vintage piece for $3k. I have owned bread watches in the past, and they didn't cause me to smoke cigars, wear cologne, or drink copious amounts of rum. I like the simple models, and now that the market is continuing to bottom out, they are more attractive. I just don't know... Apologies for the random thread, I just had to share my moment of weakness.
Panera, Panerai...box stores, shopping malls...Humvees... Still a little embarrassed that I thought about buying one.
Well random thread, I am thinking about buying a Breitling 1808. Worth collecting? These were the first Caliber 11 Breitlings yes? Not a sandwich dial, but "fried egg" is close
I dunno the black seal in the 42mm case isn't bad to me...and at least that case isn't exactly the same as all the others. I have heard of there being issues with the crown/crown guard setup..
Those are three of the models that I love. Simple and robust. Even with the prices continuing to fall, I am having a hard time pulling the trigger. Hell, Panerai are one of the only modern watches I even consider owning. I am afraid that it would scratch an itch for a week or so, and then I would be off to something else.
