Hi all

I’m seeing a growing trend on the “other” watch forums, where people are advertising watches for sale with no asking price and a “give me your best offer”. This is being done on popular watches, with known market values.....it’s starting to annoy me!.

My tuppence😉 -“ if you, the seller can’t be bothered to price your watch, why should i do your job for you by making an offer. You’re wasting everyone’s time here, surely it’s far easier to just let everyone know what you want for it first and then one can decide to make an offer or not.”

I am a ranty, miserable, middle aged man though.
Thoughts? .......not on the ranty, miserable bit I’ve come to terms with that already 👍

If it was a watch I am interested in, I would be a lowball offer.

..yes there are known market prices but IMO these sellers are hoping to find one uninformed, who will offer more 😗

Loosely based on the old adage " the first liar always loses".

I think they are hoping that someone makes a mistake or perceives a different value structure than the seller does. It doesn't cost them anything to try.

I blame it all on the tv show "American Pickers" where the most common phrases are "what are you thinkin' on this?" and "what would you have to have?".

I already feel the "For Sale" forums have changed the dynamic here.
I certainly hope we retain the "must state a price" rule if we are to continue on being a sales platform.
