Good to see someone else inquiring about this watch, as there is little out there on it. I also recently acquired a 9377GA on a whim without any clue what I was buying. Mine's a little different with blue dial and Italian day marker. I just had mine serviced and it runs great. I found the email address of the GP museum curator on another site and emailed him (Wally....good dude). Here is what he replied about the watch, first before I knew the reference number but had a picture of the 440 movement (mine is 440-203):
"....the caliber GP 440 was in use in 1970. It is a 12 ½ ‘’’, 17 jewels, 36.000 vibrations/hour, based on a AS 1923 ebauche."
Then, when he told me how to find the reference number between the lugs, he replied again:
"The ref. 9377GA has been produced from 1971 to 1976. There were 2 versions: stainless steel like yours, 2000 pieces made and gold plated, 1000 pieces. The prices were CHF 390.—for steel and 435.—for plated. The gold coloured cover is an extra protection against magnetism, hence the name «super antimagnetic »."
I think the 2-71 inside the back of the case (same as mine) suggests a Feb 1971 production date, so we have an early version. You didn't have to worry about the strap as yours is clearly an original steel GP bracelet, but I ended up sourcing a period appropriate tang buckle and new strap for mine to round it out.
I think we did well. Just got another compliment on it today!!
Cheers!!!
