I thought this was truly beautiful. Case ref 12237. Serial number 831xxx.

It sold at auction today for 4000CHF plus commission, considerably above estimate.

Anyone here lucky enough to pick it up?

I believe that nice Compur / Uni / Compax are going to move up in price. This is a very nice watch.

 

Is it just me or is the left top lug bent?

I dunno. I'd be a bit worried about the triangles at 3 and 9 (and the one that has fallen off at 6). I haven't got Sala to hand, but I can't remember seeing UG using anything like that elsewhere, and the 9 o'clock triangle seems to intrude into the sub-dial in an odd way.

 

There is a small picture from the archives in Sala of a 12237 but it has a white dial with metal nipples (for want of a better word - I'm sure someone can tell me the correct horological term) on the dial. This and the fact that I couldn't find another on the net was enough to chip away at my confidence. Here's another dial photo.

 

Printing looks ok ... not thinking redial.

 

4000CHF plus commission ?? that is a really cheap price ...

wow, stunning dial, completely original IMHO. Whoever got that picked up a pretty nice bargain.
