Hey guys, This listing just ended on eBay, https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/192695549679 Did anyone here snag it? I was having a look but it ended. Looked to be a nice condition gilt dial (I think), with baton hands. Do you these command a premium in the market? Also the caseback looked very clean, which put me off a little, but I think I'm just too cautious.
I saw this on WUS as well. I really like the look but I can't justify the price... By the way by 'gilt dial'...they weren't manufactured using negative printing, right? Or were they?
I have seen it used to describe some Sm300 dials with print that appears golden. Not sure if technically gilt, hence the question mark
Same, I've seen it used to describe these sorts of dials as well. I guess it's just Rolexspeak being applied to omegas? Like how Rolex people call speedy racing dials 'exotic'.
I have seen one of these dials in the hand, and they are without doubt gilt, or 'gold coloured' printed text. I am not sure if there is a consensus on added value. I quite like.
Really? You mean printed on top, right? If so that's really interesting info. Hmm.. Here's a picture of a "gilt" 5513 (from a well known dealer) I saved as an example of the negative printing
Great picture. Not a detail you notice without some intent and a loupe. Yes, the Omega dial is printed with gold paint
In my opinion, the dial in the OP's post is not a gilt dial. I have not heard of Omega manufacturing gilt dials in the 60's trilogy range (Seamaster, Speedmaster, Railmaster). Its most likely just dial aging.
