Hello,

Stumbled across this 1675 for sale. The text almost looks gilt but looks too dark compared to other gilt dials I've seen. Is this original or a redial?

1675 Im looking at:

Just for example another 1675 (the text on this looks much lighter and consitent with other gilt dials Ive seen):

It’s a redial, notice the spacing of the dash between GMT and Master when compared to the one on this watch:

The luminous material on the hour markers and the hands looks to have been poorly redone also. Finally the GMT hand has been replaced with an incorrect one for the era.

Yeah. Stay away. For all the reasons @merchandiser said. Not only incorrect, but very unattractive.

Getting gilt is less about ticking the box of the reference differences. There are few reference differences that have such an amazing and immediate impact on attractiveness as gilt vs. matte. Compromising on an unattractive gilt just to have one is completely defeating the purpose, IMHO. You buy gilt for beauty.

In general, you want to ask for video if getting a gilt online, to really see how the dial reacts in light. It should make you want to take a swim in it (see below -- sorry, can't seem to figure out how to upload video, but hopefully this helps get the point across somewhat, especially the first two):

100% thumbs down, poor redial. Terrible hands and lume. Grossly overpolished case and god knows what else.

Stay away...
