When I bought my NTTD in my AD, Omega has sent him some gifts for me, 2 key rings imitating the Milanese of the watch and a cloth bag of the theme of the movie.

Maybe someday they'll actually release that movie to the public.

Haha, I can imagine if I were a Bond villain who managed to depose the secret agent while he was wearing that Seamaster... the obvious war prize for commemorating my victory over 007 would be take the watch off the dead spy's body and recraft the watch bracelet into earrings for my mistress.

I hope Omega hasn't gambled on a losing horse with NTTD. Social media and Youtube in particular, are rife with comments calling for boycott of this film due its woke agenda.

Shame if there ends up being negative connotations associated with the NTTD Seamaster, if the film ends up mired in controversy and Bond gets continually ridiculed or emasculated all through the movie.

What’s the woke agenda of the film? In fact, what’s a “woke agenda”? My understanding of the use of the term “woke” is that it’s a negative word used to describe progressive, as opposed to conservative, politics. An “agenda” suggests some sort of deliberate attempt to do something that is against popular opinion.

Is this about people being upset that the Bond movie is presenting a progressive outlook? If so, perhaps it will attract more people than it repels? After all, this is Hollywood. In Hollywood they follow the money so I guess this means that the money is where the “woke” people are, not the “anti-woke”.

Living in West Hollywood, I'm surrounded by writers and studio execs. These days, I observe the exact opposite to what you guessed. Dialing up the woke meter is not perceived as the route for attracting more 'money'. Studios are increasingly cautious. Nobody wants to risk another 2019 Terminator, or 2016 Ghostbusters on their ledger.

A progressive outlook is, upon itself, an agenda. Has the popular opinion of Bond fans across the world, been that Daniel Craigs' previous 4 features were noticeably lacking in either strong female characters, or diverse casting? I personally found & enjoyed how some of the female characters from Casino Royale & Quantum were far more interesting than Bond himself...and I love how the new Moneypenny has a field ops background.

While I enjoy interesting story arcs around strong female characters in a Bond film, I can't say with confidence that majority of Bond fans around the globe are drawn to the same progressive tastes that you & I may have in common. Commissioning (the very talented) Phoebe Waller-Bridge for a script rewrite was very a much a deliberate attempt at infusing creative elements that will connect more with the audience members who expect films to convey progressive social commentaries, than those in the audience who just want to enjoy a film as a form of entertainment/art detached from political messaging.

It's a gamble for Universal to have a female 007. We've seen female double O agents since Thunderball, and I believe there was at least 1 or 2 female 00's in one of the 1990's Brosnan films. But a female 007 is a calculated bet, and as I said previously, I hope NTTD doesn't go too far down the path of cancel-culture, to the point it alienates Bond fans and impacts the commercial success of product tie-ins.

If we can have a female Dr. Who, then anything is possible.

It is said that Lashana Lynch will take over the 007 designation at the end of NTTD but there will still be a replacement for Craig as the protagonist of Bond films even though he will not be 007... Don't know what this means for the future of the brand.

I think a female 007 is fine, so long as they don't call her James Bond....really I'd quite like to see them make a spin off film with a female 00 character - think that would be interesting. But James Bond always has to be a man in my book - otherwise it's not James Bond if you take my point.

    Nice gifts, thanks for sharing!
(One day this might be collectable merchandise for 'No Time To Die' - The film that was never screened. ;))

As much as I like Peter Capaldi in the role, Jodie is actually a great Dr. Who.

Given that it's fiction, then yes, anything is possible.

    Neat pieces!
But yes, I think (as someone noted), I think this is destined for one of the streaming services. I know they turned down Universal's price tag originally - but surely that has to come down.

I think I read there’s some inherent cost every day day/month this movie isn’t out, somewhere around 1 million. Eventually they’ll settle on a streaming platform. After all, beginning of the pandemic saw record numbers when movies hit Netflix or Prime. The audience is there, it’s the political involvement with theaters that’s preventing movies from being released. Just my guess.
