I have a NIB Stratton Speciale 7750 movement chrono, fully loaded with all the stuff which I never quite fully bonded with so it lives in the safe. I've spent an hour or so putting an ad together on EBay and, you know, I can't bring myself to push the button. It is SUCH a beauty. Back in the safe? Launch it on the bay? Errr
Do what I do with expensive guitars that I'm torn about selling (for whatever reason): list them somewhere where you're not immediately obligated to sell, to judge the interest/likelihood of a sale by monitoring views/offers etc. I find this often tips the mental balance in favor of a stronger commitment to either Keep or Sell. FWIW more often than not I end up keeping the item even if it's a fantastic piece I've listed at a great price...I get pissed off that no one seems to appreciate what is a great deal so I pull the ad!
Money on one side, the story of the watch and the possibility to get it back on the other side. Think about. May you should keep it ?
